The VTO

I look forward to VTO every year! When we first started going, for me it was all about simply walking around in the sunshine for hours, people watching and just enjoying watching my kids in the golf environment. As it became more of a family tradition, I started reading up on the players, which made rooting for them and following them on the course more interesting. My husband teases me that I know more about their personal life than their game: “I heard he just got engaged!” “He homeschools his kids and brings them on tour!” “Did you know he named his childhood dog after Ernie Els?”

It’s always great to walk around and run into family, friends and others in the golf community– not a day goes by out there without having at least 3 or 4 fun conversations around the game of golf!

We usually start the day grabbing a cold drink and some good food, then walk around a bit and choose who we want to follow. At some point, we’ll give the feet a rest by posting up in the sunshine and seeing who comes through that hole for the next hour or so.

Whether talking with old friends or be silenced while Rory hits a putt, it’s a game and an environment we all love and I have the autographs and close encounters to prove it!
